My Favorite Dallas Cowboy

My best friend, Cheryl, and I made a flying trip to the new Circuit City in Mansfield last week to see our favorite Dallas Cowboy, Jason Witten. We thought we would get him to sign our shirts--HAHA!! The line was blocks long so we were satisfied to just get close enough for a picture.

Isn't he Cute?!!

Teacher Tips

Well, my wonderfull nieces decided I needed to give some teacher ideas in my blog. Wow! I didn't know this blog thing would be homework for me. Well, being a mom and a 1st grade teacher I know that reading is so important in a child's life. Read with your child every day. Read books, billboards, signs, whatever you can find. A child needs be have "print awareness" when they begin kindergarten. Also, try cooking with your child when they are old enough. Boys and girls need to see you read a recipe, measure ingredients, and then see the final product. Using math and reading in this activity is great. I remember when Britt was about 5, I had his friend, Josh, over one day and we baked sugar cookies all day. I had cookie cutters and all types of decorations for the cookies. They probably don't remember it, but I will never forget it! Talk to your children! Many kids miss this because parents are so busy.
These are just a few things that moms can do to prepare children for school. I know you already know these things, but maybe it will help to be reminded.

My First Blog

Well, after reading so many blogs I decided to give it a try. It will be very basic for a while and I'm sure I will not update it as often as I would like. I will try to put pictures on eventually and log some fun things that Danny and I enjoy.
I look forward to hearing from some of you with ideas to add to my blog.
